David M. Guess

David M. Guess is a member of KTB&S.

David M. Guess represents Thorpe Insulation Co., a company that successfully resolved its significant asbestos-related liabilities through chapter 11, in numerous appeals arising out of its chapter 11 case.  In the past, he represented as bankruptcy counsel Lake at Las Vegas Joint Venture, LLC, the developer of Lake Las Vegas Resort, and National R.V., a motor home manufacturer, both of whose chapter 11 plans were confirmed.  In 2009, 2010 and 2011, Mr. Guess was named a "Rising Star" in Super Lawyers Magazine (So. Cal. edition).

Mr. Guess received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where he graduated Order of the Coif (fourth in his class).  During law school, he was an Editor with UCLA Law Review. Mr. Guess served as a judicial extern to both the Hon. David G. Sills, Presiding Justice of the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District, Division Three, and the Hon. Thomas B. Donovan, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California.  After law school, Mr. Guess served as a law clerk to the Hon. Maureen A. Tighe, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California. 

Mr. Guess is authorized to practice law in California, including before all federal district and bankruptcy courts, and to appear before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States of America.
